Best of #12MonthsofDIY

If you’re a regular here you know I’ve been participating in a really fun challenge this year called the #12MonthsofDIY

The challenge was for 12 Canadian bloggers to each use the same material each month, and see what crafty diy we could come up with.  Each month, through the year we had a different material to use.

It was so much fun to get create with each new material, to be stretched a little creativity and to see what everyone else came up with too.

Wow, that’s a lot of crafting!  And seeing them all together, I really love them all.  It was really a challenge some months to come up with something, but to me that’s the fun part, pushing yourself creatively a little.  And, it almost always results in some really great ideas.

If I had to pick a favourite, I’d have to say the Mason Jar Oil Lamps….but close seconds might go to the paint dipped candle stick holders, or the twig houses….and then there was that amazing succulent cake.  Lots of favourites I guess. 😉

But for absolute sure, without a doubt, my favourite part of the entire 12 Months was getting to know the other Canadian Bloggers.  What a group, full of amazing ideas and talent, but almost, more than that, so loving and encouraging, and kind, and genuine.  Life is so much better with cheerleaders isn’t it?  Over my the years of blogging, because I’ve been at this a good long while, I’ve heard so many bloggers say that the best part of blogging is connecting with other bloggers.  Until this challenge, I really only had really limited experience with this.  I was missing out for sure.  Working with these women has been one of the high points of my whole blogging year, and although we are finishing the challenge, I know we’ll remain great friends.  Cheesy though it may sound, that’s the best part, for sure.

It was all organized by Christina from The DIY Mommy, and she’s done an amazing job.  It’s been so great working with her, and getting to know her better.  She is so kind, and encouraging, an inspiration, and so willing to share her success, a real cheerleader.  She’s an out west girl, but we got to meet in real life at a blogging conference in Toronto in the fall, and it was so fun to hang out with her.  I’m so thankful for women who are all about collaborating, helping others, and have moved beyond competition.  She led the way for me, and I’m so thankful for all I’ve learned from this amazing experience, Christiana -thank you so much.

With creative friends to cheer you on, encourage you, and support you, life really is a party.

Now it’s time to see which projects were my blogging friends’ favourites, and what they thought of our yearly challenge. Click on the project name to visit their project post, and their blog name to visit their blog and see their last #12MonthsofDIY post.
