DIY Footed Cake Plate

I am helping out with a special church banquet to celebrate our 10th Anniversary in a few weeks, and working on putting together a yellow dessert table.  We need a few footed cake plates to create some height, but are working with a very tight budget.  I decided to see what I could make from some dollar store dishes, and I’m really pleased with the results.

Materials:

  • two round white plates
  • two small round white bowls
  • Gorilla glue

I really liked the smooth design of this plate.  I simply removed the sticker labels and glued them with a little Gorilla glue.

The glue expands a little as it dries, so I used a small amount in the middle, and weighted them with recipe books.

After they were dry they were ready for use.

Cost:

  • White plates -$1.50
  • White bowl   -$1.00
  • Gorilla Glue  -already had

Total Cost per Cake Plate -$2.50

Cake Plates that don’t break the bank, but still look great, and aren’t plastic –priceless!

When life is a party, sometimes you need a few more serving pieces!
