I’ve seen this idea around for a while and always thought my girls would enjoy it, but never got around to actually doing it. On the weekend though, I found this great blog devoted to Muffin Tin Meals, check it out here.
Here’s our first attempt! The theme was muffin tin liners and cups, so we used some pretty pink striped ones we had on hand.
We went with turkey pepperoni sticks, a real favourite around here, some whole wheat melba toast, and a box of raisins. Maddie would have stopped there quite happily, but we had more spots to fill. She was delighted with the snow peas, but the oranges were a hard sell. We agreed she would try them. She is a funny girl, not a big fan of fruit. She will eat blueberries, pears, and bananas, but we’re out of blueberries, she already had a banana this morning, and the pears aren’t ripe yet. I did manage to convince her to try them, and I think that’s the point of the muffin tin, getting your kids to eat a variety of nutritious foods. The last and most wonderful item; a cake pop from Tara’s birthday party (and I confess I ate the other one, much earlier today when Maddie wasn’t looking 😉 )
It was all well received. She did try one –and just one- piece of orange. Well, we’ll just keep trying. Since she finished all her other healthy food, she still got to enjoy the cake pop.
