Vintage Christmas Lights

Nothing says vintage Christmas like coloured lights. They’re from the memories of our childhoods, and our parents childhoods. For my vintage inspired Christmas theme this year, I knew I wanted to include some blinking coloured lights somewhere, even if they didn’t replace my clear mini lights on the tree. While shopping for vintage ornaments last week, I picked up a box of old ornaments at a thrift store and in the bottom of the box were assorted vintage light reflectors. They’re not too hard to find, if you’re looking for them try your local thrift store.

I picked up a cheap box of coloured lights at the dollar store, but when I tried to add the reflectors, the lights were too small to hold on the reflector. So, I thought of an easy fix. I used clear tape, and wrapped it around the bulbs base to make it wider.

I didn’t have enough reflectors to do the whole set, so I just spaced them out randomly, and I love how they turned out. I put them up around the mirror in our entry way, and added a blinker -for just a little more kitsch.

Happy Friday, I’m looking forward to a weekend at home, with some Christmas decorating -hope yours includes something you love too. With pretty, blinking, vintage inspired Christmas lights, life really is a party!
