How To Make Easy Donut Snowmen

Donut Snowmen: these easy to put together snowmen use jelly donuts, donut holes, and candy for a perfect winter treat kids will love.

All this snowy, January weather has us thinking snowmen, and trying to embrace the season, rather than just waiting for it to pass. You know we love nothing more than a themed party around here, so we turned a simple dinner with friends on the weekend into a snowman party -you can read all about here. It’s the perfect theme idea for the winter months and a great way of embracing this time of year.

I wanted to make a simple, fun snowman dessert and came up with this tasty idea that I thought you and any kids in your life might enjoy.  It’s perfect for holiday parties and would be a fun Christmas treat. 

I put my donut snowmen together using all store-bought ingredients, so it’s very easy to put these together.  The key to making these little donut snowmen really delicious and not just cute is to get really fresh donuts.  Be sure to pick them up the day of the party.  

You could also have the kids make them for themselves, and choose their own candies to add to their little snowmen.  How fun would it be to set up a little snowman donut making station at your next holiday party.  Just place all the ingredients to make the cute snowman donuts and watch the kids having so much fun making their own version of this perfect treat.

Donut Snowmen Ingredients:

• jelly donuts
• powdered mini donuts
• jelly timbit donut holes
• chocolate chips
• orange Mike and Ike candy
• fruit by the foot
• pretzels
• mini peanut butter cup
• peppermint pattie
• white icing
• shredded coconut

How To Build A Donut Snowman

I started out with some regular size jelly donuts, and some of the timbit donut hole version too. We also picked up some mini powdered sugar donuts at the grocery store. I stacked them together to make the snowman’s body. You could use a toothpick to make it even more secure, but the small middle donut with the hole in the middle worked really well to balance the timbit head.

Then, I just embellished the snowman. To make the snowman face, I used chocolate chips for eyes, and made a nose out of a Mike and Ike orange candy. The scarf is a piece of fruit roll-ups, and the arms are made from pretzel sticks. The top hat is one mini peanut butter cup, and a peppermint pattie, held together and on the snowman’s head with a little icing “glue”, but melted chocolate would work well to put the hat together too. I rested my snowmen on a little coconut “snow”.

These little snowmen donut desserts were a real hit with the kids and adults.  They were the perfect addition to our snow themed dinner party.  I hope you enjoy this really simple and really fun idea.
