The Perfect Teacher Gift

Foxy teacher necklace 1 1

Mrs. Dobson was pretty, kind, and smart…she was also my Kindergarten teacher.  I loved being at school.  I loved the centres, the little tables, circle time, and especially when she played the piano and we sang with her.

I remember the listening centre with the careful instructions about pushing the play button, and the headphones we wore.  I remember playing in the home centre with the dolls, and little kitchen, and play food.  I remember making block towers and knocking them down.  I even remember some of my classmates names…after all these years.

She was the beginning of my love of learning.  She made learning fun and exciting, and she made me feel smart and capable, and made me want to become a teacher when I grew up.

I’m so grateful for the amazing teachers I’ve had through the years, and it really makes me appreciate the great teachers that my kids have now.

Foxy teacher necklace 5

You know the ones, the ones that pay for extra supplies for the Mother’s Day craft, the ones that phone you when your child had a bad day at school to make sure that they’re ok, the ones that think up extra activities for your child when they’re getting ahead and bored, the ones that go the extra mile, and really see your child as a little person who needs love, challenge, compassion, and encouragement.

End of year teacher gift idea

Great teachers spend a lot of time and energy with our kids, and this time of year, it’s nice to thank them for all they’ve done -the above and beyond that means so much to this mama.

I love this idea! My MIL was a teacher, so I fully intend on spoiling my kid’s teachers once they start school 🙂 For now I might just get one of these for her!

My favourite teacher was in grade 2 and she got me started in singing. I believe her name was Mrs Watson, but I could be mistaken. I remember performing Jingle Bell Rock and that she was a Habs fan lol.

My fave teacher was when I was in Grade 5, Mr Kirnahan. He would use those long pointers and smack them down on the desk when someone was goofing around (yes, I know it’s a no-no these days) but I had the utmost respect for him. I was a ‘C’ student but was very good in spelling and whenever there was a student that needed extra help he assigned me as their ‘tutor’ and it made me feel SO intelligent and my self-esteem needed that boost. He’s one of the reasons I’m a teacher today. 🙂

  4. thanks for sharing that great story!

I have had a number of great teachers and I’ve worked with many more. I think my favourite was probably Mrs Vikery in grade 5. We did a lot of dramatic book reports. I loved it.
