These ham tea sandwiches are easy to make and perfect for a tea party. Make them two ways: classic ham and Swiss with honey mustard, or ham and cheddar with apple butter. Ready in 15 minutes.

4teaspoonscondimenthoney mustard, Dijon mustard, grainy Dijon mustard, apple butter, or chutney
Instructions
Spread a thin layer of softened butter on each slice of bread. Spread your chosen condiment on half the buttered slices.
8 slices white bread, ¼ cup butter, 4 teaspoons condiment
Layer ham generously on the condiment side. Top with a slice of cheese. Place the remaining buttered bread slices on top and press gently.
4-12 slices ham, 4 slices cheese
Remove the crusts with a sharp serrated knife using a sawing motion. Cut each sandwich into 3 equal rectangular fingers. Arrange cut side out on a platter.
Serve immediately or cover the platter tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to a few hours before serving.

Butter every slice of bread before adding the filling to keep the sandwiches from getting soggy.
Plan for 3 to 5 finger sandwiches per person total from all the varieties you are serving.
For a kid friendly version skip the condiment and use a flower or heart shaped cookie cutter instead of cutting into fingers.
