Hot Chocolate Hostess Gift

Today I’m sharing another gift idea for under $10, perfect for a host, hostess, neighbour, or friend.

One of the keys to an inexpensive, yet impressive gift is the packaging. I love that the Bulk Barn carries several different flavours of hot chocolate mix. I bought some and then put them into cute little mason jars, because everything looks good in a mason jar. 😉

I also added some candy canes, and a few different kinds of marshmallows.

I picked up some chocolate spoons at Dollarama. Here’s a pic of the package so you know what to look for. I used these in a hot chocolate buffet for an event last year and they were a big, big hit, so I thought they’d be fun to add to this gift. I took them out of the box and wrapped them up individually in cello bags and tied them with baker’s twine.

I made some simple little brown paper tags, and attached them to the mason jars with more aqua baker’s twine.

I put everything together in a little wooden tray, also from the dollar store, that I painted aqua and filled with some silver basket filler.

With sweet goodies like this for giving, life really is a party!

  1. Very nice gift idea! Where do you buy all your mason jars?

  2. You can get mason jars at places like Home Hardware, Walmart, or Zellers. I picked these up, with the diamond pattern, in the States. I haven’t been able to find them here in Canada. Hope that helps.

  3. Love the idea!
