Before everything turns red and pink around here for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share my winter whites with you. There is something about January, with all the clutter of Christmas put away, and the cold, white snow outside, that always has me yearning for white flowers. Maybe it’s the fact that everything is cold and sleeping outside, that your heart begins to look forward to the return of spring and new life. There is something about having beautiful paper whites, that makes you smile in anticipation of spring!
I have this beautiful pot of paper whites on my kitchen table. My mom got them for me for Christmas, and I’ve enjoyed watching them grow over the last few weeks. As they got taller and taller, I added a few twigs to help support them. I love the way they look with our light. The light is from Ikea, it’s supposed to resemble a dandelion. I fell in love with it, and although it’s a little big for the space, it’s so airy and white I think it really works here, and adds a little whimsy.
The light also reminds me a little of snowflakes.
Through those windows we have quite the snowy view outside.
A new addition that I’m also really enjoying is this myrtle topiary, sitting by my sink, and greeting me every time I set to work there.
I just love a little something green and growing this time of year.
The beautiful white orchid has migrated to the dinning room table. The winter white continues there with an abundance of snowflakes. I love the runner, a gift a few years ago from my sister, something I picked out at her store. It’s made of felt.
The hurricanes are from President’s Choice, sometimes they have some really great stuff, and the price is always right.
There are a few other snowflake items sprinkled around the dinning room. These cute little candles, that look even more beautiful when lit with light shining out all the snowflake shaped openings.
And, on the side board, my beautiful snowflake side plates, and three cute little snowflake bowls, just waiting for a winter dinner party.
