DIY Hot Chocolate Bar
DIY hot chocolate bar: the perfect additon to your holiday parties, guest can help themselves to hot chocolate and favourite toppings.

Over the weekend my sister had an open house at her flower shop and my niece Jenny and I set up this fun hot chocolate bar for her guests. This is the perfect set up for any party or get together. The guests had a great time making their customized hot chocolate from all the different toppings available and it was so beautiful.
Hot Chocolate Tree and Hot Chocolate Ornaments
We set it up on her copper work counter, and made a kraft paper runner. You can see the shelves of vases in the background of some of the pictures. We started out with this really cute idea for a hot chocolate tree, that I thought you might like too. ;). This is the perfect fun addition to any hot chocolate buffet for Christmas or the holidays.
I had a set of six clear glass ornaments from the craft store, and added different hot chocolate elements to each of them.
One was filled with cocoa powder, another with mini marshmallows, another with candy cane pieces, one with red sprinkles, one with Christmas chocolate chips in white, green and red, and lastly one with snowflake sprinkles. We tied them with red satin ribbon, and my sister made an arrangement of Christmas greens and curly willow sticks for us to hang them on.
I really love how it turned out, it was kind of quirky and added height to the hot chocolate bar. Since my sister is a florist, we had lots of gorgeous flowers to choose from for our display too. We used red and white roses and gerberas in the same vases. I love the impact of using all the same flowers for each arrangement.
Hot Chocolate Bar Topping Ideas
We offered regular or white hot chocolate and then had a variety of toppings for people to add.
- regular marshmallows
- strawberry marshmallows
- mini marshmallows
- tutti frutti mini marshmallows
- chocolate mint marshmallows
- cinnamon bun marshmallows
- milk
- whipped cream
- caramel drizzle
- candy canes
- Christmas chocolate chips
- red sprinkles
- white sprinkles
- cinnamon
- nutmeg
- cinnamon sticks
- white cotton candy
We had lots of different marshmallow flavours to choose from including, strawberry, regular, regular mini, tutti frutti mini, chocolate, chocolate mint, and cinnamon bun -some leftovers from the s’more party.
Along with marshmallows we had milk in a pretty old milk bottle, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle. There was also some sprinkles and nutmeg, and cinnamon, including large cinnamon sticks that could be used for stirring.
We had some other fun toppings too, including candy canes, and Christmas chocolate chips in white, red and green.
My favourite was the white cotton candy (we found at bulk barn), it looked like Santa’s beard or the white trim on his suit to me. 😉 Another fun addition might have been a little Baileys, or other liqueur -for an at home party.
With a DIY hot chocolate bar like this, life really is a party!
