Happy Easter!

I was at the “One of a Kind” show in Toronto last week and found these $5 hand painted watercolour cards from Leslie Zahara. Could they be any sweeter?

I picked out three Easter ones, and framed them in little frames from the dollar store. I just love how they turned out.

I put them out on the bookcase in the living room. Every time I glance at them they make me smile. :)

Hope you’re finding lots of reasons to smile this beautiful Easter weekend, too.

Hoppy Easter -Kid’s Easter Table

Easter Table 047

We’re planning on getting together with family and friends that feel like family to celebrate this weekend. It’s my husbands birthday, and we’re having a beer and root beer tasting to celebrate (more on that coming soon) but for the kids I wanted to include some Easter fun. I am planning on using my new favourite scheme of kraft paper and twine for the adult table, and wanted to come up with an Easter version of this neutral scheme for the kid’s table.

Easter Table 023

I used two end tables and children’s table to set up our little table for six. I know this usually never happens, but all the tables were the same height! I covered them all with brown kraft paper to start. I used easy plastic white plates, and then made sweet little bundles of napkins and cutlery. I used these mini paper bags and stamped them with “Hoppy Easter”.

Easter Table 040

I wanted to add a bunny detail. I found a simple bunny template at Titantoni. I cut the bunnies out of simple brown cardboard, hot glued on a little cotton batten to create the sweetest bunny tail ever, and tied them on to the little bags with some twine. So sweet.

I decided it would be fun to make a little garland too, so I cut out the printed pattern in white, and alternated them with some more cut out of brown kraft paper.

Easter Table 056

I decided to keep it simple, and instead of breaking out the sewing machine and worrying about keeping the spacing right, a used a simple needle and thread and stitched them together by hand.

Easter Table 029

They are so light, I just taped them up for the weekend. I love how they turned out, and they were so simple to make. They’d also look great with a more colourful table cut out of coordinating scrapbook paper. I had some white paper doily bunting so I strung it up as well, to create a layered effect.

Easter Table 050

One final detail on our simple table we these sweet little Easter nests. I wanted to add a little centrepiece, but worried about the kids knocking over flowers, so I came up with this kid-proof idea.

Easter Table 003

I shredded some of the brown kraft paper, and a few pages from an old book. I lined some glass bowls with a little plastic wrap to use as the mold for the nests.

Easter Table 005

I mixed a little warm water with white glue and dipped in my shredder paper, then I just pushed them into the mold and let them dry a couple days. My little girls are already eyeing the chocolate eggs. 😉

Easter Table 012

I love how my neutral Easter table for the kids turned out, and it was really simple to put together with things I had around the house.

Hope you and yours have a very “Hoppy Easter” too!

Nest Themed Table for Easter

I’m excited to share our Nest Themed Easter Table with you.  Yesterday was Easter and we invited some family and friends over for a wonderful feast! We had 19 guests, tons of amazing food, and a wonderful time together. We had 14 adults to seat for dinner in the dining room, which was a bit of a challenge, but we squeezed in and it was a lot of fun.

It’s always a challenge to put together a coordinated table for that many people, but when you have white dishes to mix and match it makes it a lot easier.

I was inspired by these beautiful blue eggs I found at Dollarama, and used as filler in my spring hurricane vases. I love the robins egg blue colour.

I saw some super cute wire nests at Holiday Haven, with a great tutorial. They made them into necklaces, but I had the idea to make them into napkin rings. It was a fun detail to add, and a great solution when you don’t have 14 of anything that matches -just make your own!

I got my supplies at Michaels; just some wire and these great blue coloured beads to compliment the eggs I used in the hurricane vases with the candles.

I followed the simple tutorial, and had 14 whipped up after a couple hours of TV watching. I strung them onto some pretty satin ribbon, and tied them to white napkins.

My sister, of La Petite Fleur, brought a beautiful centre piece. I love the little butterfly tucked in, and the gorgeous white flowers with a hint of pink. It sure is handy having a sister as a florist!

I love how the table turned out, and I think these nest napkins rings would be great for any spring get-together, or nest themed party.
