When my friend told me she wanted to make a little herb garden in a spot near her doorway, I offered to make her some DIY garden markers for her. I’ve had these concrete moulds and stamps for quite a while, and thought it was time to get it out again.

It’s really simple to use and the results are really lovely. I’m kind of in love with the concrete look. Anything in the garden made of cement just has that cool industrial vibe. The kit comes with the moulds, letter stamps, and some concrete stain, which we used to make her markers a terra cotta colour.

Materials:

  • concrete moulds
  • letter stamps for concrete
  • concrete
  • (optional) concrete stain

How To Make Concrete Garden Markers

First you just mix up the cement in a pail, with the stain (or without) and some water.

Next choose which length of mould to use depending on the length of your word.  Fill it with wet cement.

Then you use the letters to spell out your word. Press the stamps into the wet cement and then remove them to leave the letter impression behind. Next you slip off the mould and leave your garden marker to harden.

I love how they turned out, so simple and sweet, and a little toadstool for good measure. 😉

My friend seemed to really like them, and said it would make it easy to send her kids out to get her some herbs, and not choose the wrong one. 🙂

With a little herb garden like this one just outside your back door, life really is a party.
