This year I’m decorating for Christmas with a woodland theme, but I still wanted to use my beloved glitter house village I made a few Christmas’ ago. I decided to use the tree branch cake plate stands I made for my daughters s’more birthday party, to add some rustic charm. I love how it turned out.
The instructions for how to make these beautiful little houses, can be found at this post and this post. Most of them are made out of old cereal boxes, that are cut, glued, painted, and glittered -very time consuming but well worth the effort! You, your empty honey nut Cheerios box, and an exacto knife could do the same thing.
I made the rustic tree branch cake stands out of old wood from the forest that a friend cut with his chain saw for me, and I sanded and glued together, see the whole tutorial here to make them.
I added in lots of different little bottle brush and miniature village trees to try and make it feel like it was in the woods -I even tucked in a little toy moose. 😉 I love all the different trees together, and all the different heights of everything. And I sprinkled on lots of faux snow, since there is none outside yet. 😉
Along the front of the mantel I used my garland made from old felted sweaters –see the tutorial here. I love how fuzzy and soft they are and how they resemble snowballs.
With Christmas Glitter Houses in the woods, life really is a party! Wishing you and your village a very merry Christmas.
