Smart Cookie Party
Smart Cookie Party: the perfect way to celebrate back to school, or graduation, free cookie party printables included.
We have a family tradition of having a special family back to school party on the first day –see last year’s back to school dinner here, and the year before here. I love creating a special back to school family dinner, during which we can hear all about our kids first day. We’ve been doing it for so many years, that it’s something we all look forward to. This year I thought a smart cookie party would be fun.
Printables
I started out by creating some beautiful printables for the party to set the tone. This set is so adorable. Just subscribe to the blog and gain access to our free printable library with hundreds of free printables, including the Smart Cookie Party Printables.

This party set includes a printable banner, two posters, a pendant, two sets of lunch box notes -that I used as gift tags, and napkin ring holders, plus table scatter.
Let’s start out with the adorable “One Smart Cookie” banner. I printed these on card stock on my home computer, then cut out, added holes with a mini hole punch, and threaded them into a banner. So cute.
I created two fun signs you can use for your party. The first is our large “You are one smart cookie”. We printed it onto card stock and used it as decor, you could also frame it.
The second printable sign is the “I love you more than milk loves cookies.” It was a great addition to the table.
I thought it would be fun to create a back to school pennant for the party. Print this one on paper, and hot glue it to a dowel, then add some ribbons to decorate.
I also made a set of small cards. These would be great as lunch box notes anytime. I used the joke set as napkin ring holders. Just print, cut out, add a hole with a hole punch, and add to your napkin with some ribbon. We had fun going around the table asking each other our jokes over dinner.
There’s also a mini version of the larger signs. I used these as gift tags. I always like to get my girls a small gift, something like some new pens or pencils, and sticky notes are a great thoughtful small gift for back to school. Lunch bags were the perfect gift bags, and the tags really dressed up the bags with a little ribbon.
The last printable item in the set is the table scatter. I used my Cricut machine to create it. Up load the image, and use the print then cut feature to make it. It worked perfectly for this, which would be difficult to cut out by hand since it’s so small. It looked great as table scatter confetti for the party.
Cookie Party Table
I kept the table quite simple with a white linen table runner, some white flowers, and our printable sign and table scatter.
You really can’t have a cookie party without cookies. I baked some peanut butter, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies for the party. We used some large and small glass canisters as my cookie jars, and they looked great on the table.
I also picked up some chocolate milk in glass milk bottle from the grocery store, and it looked so cute with the milk bottle image on the printables.
Smart Cookies
I created a smart cookie for our printables and thought it would be fun to try and recreate it in real life. The base is a chocolate chip cookie. I decorated the cookie with some black icing, candy eyes, and a little pink icing. These guys are a little wonky looking, but so adorable. Use the black icing to create the glasses, and the smile. Add the candy eyes, and just a drop of pink icing to make each cheek. This might be a fun activity to do with your kids, if they enjoy decorating cookies.
Not a baker? No problem. Use store bought cookies instead of baking. Or make things easier with slice and bake cookies.
This little smart cookie party for back to school was so much fun. I froze the extra cookies, so they’ll be showing up in school lunches for weeks to come, and hopefully be a sweet reminder of this fun family party.
With a smart cookie party to kick the school year off, life really is a party!
