Last night we invited some friends over for a little pancake party, to celebrate Pancake Tuesday together. Since it was a week night, we wanted to keep things pretty simple. I set up all the food in the kitchen so our guests could help themselves.
We had a simple, but oh so yummy dinner. My husband came home early and made his famous homemade buttermilk pancakes -plain, blueberry, and chocolate chip. He also made homemade waffles.
I fried up some sausage and bacon, and put together some fruit, whipped cream, and syrup. Everything you need for a perfect pancake supper.
My favourite element to the table was the centre piece. I was inspired by traditional maple syrup cans -sorry I forgot to turn it to the English side for the photo.
I had trouble finding some white tulips, so I ended up using baby’s breath which I actually loved. I’ve been seeing lots of spring decor on lots of blogs this week, but it’s still so, so snowy here. I liked how the snowy picture on the can, kind of made the baby’s breath seem snowy too.
I made a little drinks area with a side table and a sweet little drink banner. I’m loving the washi tape.
Since it’s still very much winter here, I left my snowflake runner on the table and lots of white candles. I used some recycled juice bottles and little more baby’s breath to add some flowers to the table.
For the cutlery, I used the washi tape again, to add a label to brown paper bags, and used them to hold the cutlery and napkins. I wrote “happy pancake day” on the tape to add a fun little detail.
We had a great night together talking, laughing and eating lots and lots of pancakes!
With friends to turn a weeknight and pancakes into a reason to celebrate, life really is a party!
