Beach Activities For Kids
Beach Activities For Kids: a day at the beach just got better with shell tic-tac-toe, sand bowling, ring toss and a picnic lunch of beach themed foods!
A day at the beach is always so much fun, but it’s even more fun with a few great beach activities for kids planned. These activities don’t need too much prepping ahead, and I promise your kids will be delighted to add them to the regular fun of swimming and sand castle making.
Beach Ring Toss
We started out with a fun little game of ring toss, that couldn’t be simpler to prep. I brought a few mason jar rings from home, 3 gold and 3 silver, and then used a few sticks we found on the beach.
Each of my girls took turns to toss their rings. They loved it.
Our next activity was beach bowling. We used a plastic cup as a mould for our bowling pins.
We did three, but you could do as many as you like.
After they were ready, we used an old volleyball to bowl. It was so much fun, and the kids really enjoyed it. My little tip to remember is that you need a ball with a little weight to it, to knock down the heavy stand, a sports ball works great.
Beach Tic Tac Toe
We also played beach tic-tac-toe. I spray painted some sea shells with red and pink before hand, to use as our X’s and O’s.
We drew a grid in the sand, and started playing. If you didn’t want to break out the spray paint, you could also use light and dark coloured stones, or just draw the X’s and O’x in the sand too.
Lots of fun for a lazy beach day together.
Of course the other great activity for our beach day, was swimming.
A little cold at first.
Once they were used to the water, they had lots of fun!
Out last beach activity that day was a fun picnic with beach themed foods. While the girls played in the sand, I set up our lunch on a picnic table under a nice tree. The tree was perfect for hanging up our pretty bunting flags.
I set the table with a pretty vintage table cloth, and brought along some simple mason jars for wild flowers we picked at the beach.
I wanted to make a real beach inspired lunch for my girls, so here’s the not too tricky, but still really special menu I came up with.
My girls are huge fans of any kind of pasta, and their favourite is probably pasta with a little butter and parmesan cheese. I boiled up some shell pasta to go with our theme, and thought the cheese, looked a little like sand. I packed it up for the beach in sweet little mason jars.
Fish Shaped Hard Boiled Eggs
My girls are also big fans of hard boiled eggs, and I just happen to have a bento fish shaped egg mould. We made fish eggs, that I wrapped in parchment and served in these sweet little boat like dishes.
Apple Sail Boats
I wanted to add a little fruit to the mix, so I turned apple wedges into sail boats, with a simple sail made from some pretty paper and a tooth pick.
Fish Cookies and Gummy Fish
For dessert, I picked up some chocolate gold fish cookies, and added a few gummy fish for fun.
I set up all the goodies, while the girls played.
Can you tell they were having a good time? And after we were all done, we packed up our pretty wild flowers, and memories of a lovely afternoon together.
With a fun filled day at the beach together, life really is a party!
