Canada Day Party BBQ
Canada Day Party BBQ: an easy backyard Make-Your-Own Burger Bar and Free Canada Day Party Printables to insprie your Canada Day celebrations.
It’s almost Canada Day and since we’ll be able to have small get togethers this year, I thought that a backyard Canada Day Party BBQ would be perfect. The star of the party is our Make-Your-Own Burger Bar!
We picked up everything we need for this Canada Day celebration at Giant Tiger. I love a one-stop-shop! We picked up all the food and some great decor there.
I set everything up in our backyard. We started out with some fun Canada Day decorations. Confession time, I’m not a huge fan of the colour red. But I do love Canada, and you can’t really have a Canada Day party without some red. In the name of patriotism I did include some, but also lots of black and white and I love how it turned out.
Canada Day Party Decorations
I was inspired by these great pillows from the Giant Tiger Canadian Cottage collection -buy them on-line here. These pillows were the inspiration for the Free Canada Day printables we made for the party, that you can download. I love the black and white. I set these up in our seating area, so guests could fix themselves a burger and enjoy it here for a relaxed afternoon.
Under the pergola I set up our Burger Bar. Above the table, in the midst of our hanging lanterns, I added some fun Canada Day string lights -find them in-store. They’re the perfect festive touch.
To decorate the table I started with an amazing cotton throw in black and white that I used as a tablecloth.
On the table I added some succulents that I found in store to the galvanized server caddy. And then I popped in a few Canadian flags.
I also added some maple tree branches, and fun letter board message.
On the front of the table we hung our free printable Canada Day banner. Choose from “True North” and “Happy Canada Day” in black or red.
We used some dish cloths (find in-store) as the perfect relaxed outdoor napkins. Holding our cutlery and tied with red and white ribbon they’re looking festive!
The Food
The star of this party is the Make-Your-Own Burger Bar. It’s perfect for any easy summer entertaining. We started out with our burgers, in regular or brioche buns. The Canada Day picks are the perfect touch.
We set up a burger bar board of toppings for guests including:
- bacon
- fried onions
- fried mushrooms
- Swiss cheese
- havarti cheese
- American cheese
- lettuce
- tomatoes
- onion
- dill pickles
And I used the Mason Caddy with Glasses to hold all the condiments for the burgers. We had:
- mustard
- sweet relish
- hamburger relish
- ketchup
- burger sauce
- hot peppers
Along with burgers we offered some assorted potato chips for a really relaxed and easy menu.
Drinks
I found some pop shoppe pop at Giant Tiger and thought the red and white striped bottles were perfect for our colour scheme. We added on some paper straws and our festive Canada Day straw flags that you can download as part of our Free Canada Day collection of printables. Just print them on your home printer, cut them out and glue them to the straws.
