Cottage Hostess Gift: ideas for what to include in the perfect gift basket to bring to the cottage as a hostess gift for friends.

This cottage hostess gift is a little twist on a gift basket.  It’s filled with lots of treats to enjoy over the weekend with your friends.

If someone is nice enough to invite you to their cottage for the weekend, you want to be the guest that brings the great hostess gift. And, hopefully when they are inviting again, you’ll be on the top of their list.  

Galvanized Pail

I started out mine with a great galvanized bucket from Dollarama, and put in a pretty little tea towel to line it too.  You could of course use a basket, but I thought a pail perfect for the cottage.

Alcohol

Next we added some wine and beer, because it’s the cottage! Choose your favourites or the fixings for your favourite cocktail would be a great choice too.  If you prefer non-alcoholic drinks your favourite soft drink or sparkling water would be a great choice too.

Cheese and Crackers

I also added in some of my favourite snacks. I made the homemade crackers, see the recipe here , and they were a real hit ie. how to really impress people and hear things like -you actually made crackers? And, they’re easy to make, just make sure you put them in something air tight.  I used some cello bags, and tied it with a little twine.

I also included some cheese, fancy mustard, pate, and some fresh fruit.

Everything you need for an afternoon of happiness on the dock. 😉

More Treats

Last but not least, I picked up some really snacky foods, my favourite kettle cooked chips and some peanuts, and some chocolate.  All my favourite treats.

Wrap It All Up

I wrapped it up in some clear cellophane and tied it with a little raffia to finish it off.

With a yummy gift like this to share with friends at the cottage, life really is a party!
