These giant paper flowers are easy to make and you'll love using paper flower decorations around your home.

I'm so excited to share this project with you. It's my absolute favourite of late, and I hope you love it too. I worked on it for weeks, but at a leisurely pace, usually while watching tv in the evening. It was fun to do something creative and think of spring while the snow was still falling outside.

My sister gave me this rustic window frame for Christmas, and I love how it looks here on the mantel, adding height and displaying flowers.

Materials:

  • white paper
  • brown Kraft paper
  • book pages
  • glue gun
  • watercolours

I made all the flowers out of regular white paper, brown paper from the dollarstore, and an old book. And I glued them together with my trusty glue gun.

Once I started working on the flowers, I thought it might be fun to add a little colour to some. I used some watercolour paints to add a little spring colour to just a few.

Making Giant Paper Flowers:

You can find my tutorial for making giant paper flowers here, including a video.  I used this tutorial to make some of them too.

They're quite simple to make, just time consuming. I had my little girls working on them too. One thing to remember when you're making this many flowers is they don't have to be perfect. Little imperfections won't be noticeable when they're all grouped together.

Adding Them To The Mantel

Along the front of the mantel, I mounted more flowers onto a cardboard backing to create a swag. I love, love how it turned out. I think the mix of colours, textures, and scale is really pretty.

Hi Liz, the flowers are just held up with some tape, but I also highly recommend using Command hooks. They hold things really well and usually come off with no damage to the surface at all. Hope this helps.

    Hi Sheila,
There all made of simple paper, cut into a petal shape and curled on the end. Then hot glued to a circle base, working out from the centre. Hope that helps. Best of luck.
