Croque Monsieur
Croque Monsieur Sandwich: this French ham and cheese sandwich is taken to the next level by dipping it in beaten egg and frying in some butter.

Today I’m sharing a Croque Monsieur Sandwich. A Croque Monsieur is a French bistro sandwich. They start out with a ham and cheese sandwich and then up the ante by dipping it in beaten egg and frying it in butter. Like a grilled cheese, but way better. Don’t you just love the French.
Start out with some nice French bread, a little crusty on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Cut yourself a couple generous slices.
Spread one side with some grainy dijon mustard, and pile on a little honey ham and some Swiss cheese.
Already a pretty good looking sandwich, but just wait. Beat up an egg with some salt and pepper and a little splash of milk. Then, dip both sides of the sandwich in the egg mixture.
The final step is to cook the sandwich in butter in a frying pan. I added a little green salad to mine, made with some baby lettuce from the garden. Such a good lunch.
