DIY Faux Concrete Pumpkins
DIY Faux Concrete Pumpkins: easy DIY to transform inexpensive dollar store pumpkins with a faux paint finish, perfect for fall.
These DIY faux concrete pumpkins are the perfect addition to your decor for fall. I love the rustic industrial feel of concrete and adding it to my home decor. For the last few falls I’ve dreamt of adding some concrete pumpkins to my decor.
I’ve googled how to DIY some, and found that it’s actually pretty complicated. It would involve ordering or trying to make special pumpkin shaped mold to form the concrete in.
I even tried to paint some faux pumpkins with regular concrete last year, but they were a definite, crumbly concrete fail. So when I discovered some faux concrete paint a while ago, I thought this just might be my way to DIY the look I’ve been after.
I used super inexpensive dollar store, and kind of ugly craft pumpkins and transformed them into gorgeous faux concrete pumpkins, and it was really easy.
Materials:
- inexpensive foam craft pumpkins
- textured concrete effect paint
- paint brush
How To Make Faux Concrete Pumpkins:
- Paint pumpkins with concrete effect texted paint. It will take several coats.
- If you’d like to create some variation, paint pumpkins overall with lighter colour, and while it is still wet add the darker colour to the pumpkins grooves. Blend as you go.
That’s it, so simple and such a cool effect. I painted two in the lighter colour and then added the darker colour to the pumpkin grooves for some dimension and variation. The second one is just painted with the darker colour.
I’ve mixed mine in with some white pumpkins, a mix of both real and faux. Some of the real pumpkins have a some henna inspired patterns drawn on them with a black sharpie -I used this great tutorial. They make a really fun mix for a mantel, or any where in your fall decor.
