This is the first post in a series of Christmas Gifts for Under $10 -perfect for a hostess, bus driver, neighbour, or friend.
Today I’m sharing my very favourite pancakes with you. I grew up on Aunt Jemima and thought that was what pancakes tasted like. When I got married my husband started making us pancakes from scratch -what a difference, and the real maple syrup didn’t hurt either. They’re so light, and fluffy, and yummy. If you’ve never tried them before consider it Christmas holiday homework.
To make these into an in-a-jar recipe, combine these dry ingredients and whisk together:
-
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
-
3 tablespoons sugar
-
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
I used a cute canister from the dollar store to put the homemade pancake mix into.
Then I made this cute printable that gives the recipient the list of wet ingredients to add. You can download it and print it here. I printed it on card stock, cut it out, and added a little glitter -cause everything is better with glitter. Then just punch a hole in the top, and tie it onto the canister with a little Christmas ribbon. I added a little pine and rosehips for fun.
Along with the pancake mix-in-a-jar, I thought it would be nice to include some syrup. I found this delicious looking raspberry syrup, part of the President’s Choice Black Label line, but plain old real maple syrup would be great too.
My syrup was around $5, the canister $1, and I had the other ingredients, making this a great under $10 Christmas gift! I think this would be really fun to bring as a hostess gift for a dinner party, and mention something like “you made us this beautiful dinner so here’s something to help with breakfast tomorrow”.
With homemade pancakes and raspberry syrup, life really is a party!

Simple, creative and thoughtful gift! Thanks for sharing. Do you know about how many pancakes it would make? I just know someone will ask lol!
It should make about 12 five inch pancakes.
