How To Make Donut Strawberry Shortcake
This might be the greatest, easiest summer recipe EVER. EVER.
It all started when I drove by a little strawberry stand the other day, and realized it was the beginning of strawberry season here. I stopped by to pick some up, and was informed that it was pick-your-own so I headed out to the patch for a few minutes and came back with a yummy basket full…and a few samples in my tummy(quality control).
I saw this great idea here originally, and wanted to try it with some Honey Crullers -I know #geniusmoment
Making these little donut strawberry shortcakes couldn’t be easier.
Donut Strawberry Shortcakes
- Your favourite donuts I used Honey Crullers and Honey Dip
- fresh strawberries, sliced
- whipped cream
I picked up some donuts, Honey Crullers, my personal favourite, and some Honey Dip. Just cut the donut in half, add a layer of whipped cream and some sliced strawberries, and put the top back on.
As I was making these I did wonder if they might be a bit too sweet, so I didn’t add any sugar to the strawberries, and it was the PERFECT mix of sweet, creamy, and tangy. I think these would be a great addition to any Canada Day celebrations you’re planning for Wednesday…and as I always say to my American peeps, throw in a few blueberries, and you’ve got 4th of July covered too.
With this easy and so, so yummy Donut Strawberry Shortcake, life really is a party!
