When we decided on The Princess and the Frog dinner and movie night for our first Disney Princess dinner and movie night, we knew swamp water punch would be the perfect addition. Much of the Princess and the Frog takes places in the swamp lands of Louisiana. The scenery is beautiful with fireflies, water lilies, mossy trees, and cat tails... along with green swampy water. This was the inspiration for our drinks.
This would be a great addition to any swamp themed party or for Halloween.
Why We Love This Recipe
- It really tastes great.
- The ice cream adds a foamy cold creaminess that's really good.
- It really looks green and swampy! It's the perfect balence of gross and delicous.

Ingredients
See the recipe card below for ingredient measurements.
We wanted our swamp water drink to be the perfect disgusting swamp-green color and foamy so we added ice cream and pop for that fizzy, creamy swamp effect. It's also so yummy, and kids love it. It's one of my favorite easy recipes for a party
- Limeade: The limeade helps create the green color, the pop adds the fizz and reacts well with the ice cream or sherbet to make the foam effect.
- Pineapple Juice: helps add sweetness and flavour.
- Ice cream or Sherbet: adds that swampy foam texture on the top and adds great taste too.

Variations
- Ice Cream/Sherbet: I had trouble finding lime sherbet where I live, but I did find lime ice cream at Baskin Robbins, which worked great and was delicious. If you can find lime sherbet, it would work great too. If you can't find either of these, you could substitute vanilla ice cream with some green food coloring as an alternative, or just add the ice cream plain but it won't create as green of a foamy layer on top.
- Orange Juice: Some people like to use orange juice and make it an orange juice punch, including the orange juice pulp for more of the swampy effect. We liked the taste of the pineapple juice better, but orange juice is an option if you prefer.
- Ice Cubes and Gummi Worms: try adding some to everyone's glass as a fun swampy garnish. Freeze the gummy worms on their own, or add them to the ice cube trays when you're making the ice cubes so that they're frozen into the ice cubes. Gummi bugs, frogs or spiders are a great option as a garnish too.
Using Dry Ice
You might even want to add some dry ice for a foggy effect. This would be especially fun for a Halloween party. To create this effect you will want to serve the punch bowl. Use two plastic punch bowls, one smaller than the other. Put the swamp water punch in the smaller bowl with a ladle for guests to help themselves. The small bowl will sit inside of the larger bowl. In the larger bowl add your dry ice. This will prevent your guests from accidentally having any dry ice in their swamp juice glass.
Do not add dry ice to the punch served in individual glasses as it it can be hazardous.
Be sure to use a clean rubber glove to handle the ice as it can harm your skin if in direct contact. To activate the ice for the party, just pour a little warm water on top.

How To Make This Recipe
1. This punch is really simple and quick to make. Just combine the limeade, gingerale, and pineapple juice in a glass.
2. Top with a scoop of ice cream or sherbet just before serving. Serve it with a straw for stirring in the ice cream or sherbet as it melts, and sipping.
Serving
We made our punch in individual glasses for our party, which worked great, and helped them stay fizzy.
For a larger group, you could also make a large punch bowl of the swamp water punch instead, and guests could help themselves, or make it in a large pitcher.
Expert Tip:
Don't make your swamp water punch too far in advance of serving it, because the pop will lose it's fizz and the ice cream or sherbet will melt completely.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can substitute a different green colored ice cream or sherbet. I would not use mint chip because the flavors won't go will together. You could use vanilla ice cream and use food coloring to make it green.
You can prep this drink by mixing the juices in a glass or punch bowl ahead of time, but add the pop and the ice cream or sherbet right before serving so that the drink stays fizzy and the ice cream or sherbet isn't completely melted.
