  • Smores are amazing -anytime of year!
  • Adding holiday touches makes these extra fun.
  • All the cookie ideas are easy to make with store bought ingredients.
  • Kids love all these fun additions to make these smores extra special.

Smores are a real favourite around here... Smores Trail Mix, Smores Pizza, Smores Charcuteire Board... need I say mroe?

We had these for our summwerween party.  They are perfect for any Halloween celebration.  Enjoy them around a campfire with friends for the perfect spooky treat.

They'd also be the perfect easy addtion to a Halloween Movie Night with Free Printables or a Pink Halloween Party. And you might also like our Ghost Rice Krispie Treats.

Ingredients

Labeled Halloween smores board.

Marshmallows

  • Regular marshmallows with Ghost Faces:  we gave our regular marshmallows a Halloween makeover using an edible marker to add ghost faces.  Look for these edible markers at your local craft store, or cake decorating supply store.
  • Halloween Peeps: we used Frankenstein, skeletons, and pumpkins.  Look for these seasonally with candy supplies or online.

Cookies

  • Graham Cracker Mummies: we dressed up our regular graham crackers with white chocolate and candy eyes to make adorable and delicious mummy cookies.
  • Which Hats: We used round chocoalte covered cookies as the base, added a Hersey's Kiss with melted chocolate, and a few sprinkles.
  • Spider Chocolate Chip Cookies: we used storebought cookie dough, baked the cookies and added a chocolate melting wafer, and candy eyes, and piped chocolate spider legs. Homemade would be a great option too. Try our chocolate chip cookies made with shortening recipe here.

Chocolate

  • Peanut Butter Cups
  • Milk Chocolate
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Cookies and Cream Chocolate

Extras

  • Gummy Worms: the perfect creepy Halloween touch to your smores
  • Receses Pieces: we love those Halloween colors, and great taste.
  • Dulce De Leche: this thick and delicious caramel sauce is the perfect smores addition.
  • Pistachio Cream: Love the Dubi trend?  Why not add pistachio cream for the perfect smore version.

Varations:

  • Chocolate: You can use any chocolate options that you love on your Halloween smore board.  Raid the chocolate bar section and try out chocolate bars with nuts, caramel, or coconut for different options.
  • Mint: Love mint?  Try adding chocolate mint patties.
  • Spreads or Sauces: We used dulce de leche, and pistachio cream, but other options include peanut butter or chocolate hazelnut spread, or your favorite jam.

How To Make A Halloween Smores Board

1. Mummy Cookies

To make the mummy cookies, start by melting some white chocolate wafers in the microwave in 20 second intervals.

Add the melted chocolate to a ziplock bag and cut a very small corner off the bag to make a pipping bag.  Pipe the melted chocolate in lines across the graham cracker, and while the chocolate is still melted, add two candy eyes.

Let the chocolate set before adding the cookies to your smore board.

2. Witch Hat Cookies

For the witch hat cookies, use a round chocolate covered cookie as your base.

Melt some Hersey's kisses and use it as the glue to add a Hershey's Kiss to the center of the round cookie to make the witch's hat.  Use enough chocolate so that it seeps out under the Kiss, and add Halloween sprinkles while the chocolate is still melted.

3. Spider Cookies

For the spider cookies, prepare your ready-to-bake cookie dough -or your favourite homemade recipe and bake in the oven.  While the cookies are still warm, add a chocolate disk on top in the center.

The heat from the cookie will melt the chocolate.  When it's melted, add two candy eyes.

Melt additional chocolate in the microwave in short intervals, and then add to a ziplock bag.  Cut a small corner of the bag off and use it as a piping bag to add 8 spider legs to the cookies, 4 on each side.

Once the chocolate is set, add the cookies to the smore board.

Tip: Be sure to leave some of your cookies un-decorated to use as the bottoms of the smores.

4. Ghost Marshmallows

For the ghost marshmallows, use an edible food marker to add black eyes and a mouth to the side of a regular marshmallow.

5. Assemble The Board

To assemble the Halloween smores board, start by adding a bowl of the dulce de leche and pistachio cream.  We added some ghost and spider sprinkles on top, to make them a little more Halloween-ie.

Then add in your different marshmallows.

Next, add the cookies.  Be sure to add some undecorated cookies to use as the base of the smores.

Lastly, fill in with all the candy and chocolate options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this Halloween smores board ahead of time?

Yes! Prep your cookies the day before and store in an airtight container.  Assemble your Halloweem smores board ahead of time and wrap tightly with plastic wrap until your ready to serve.

Do peeps roast like regular marshmallows?

Yes and no.  The outside of peeps has a sugar coating and when roasted will become slightly crispy -burled if you will, while the inside will become gooey like a regular marshmallow.  They work great for smores.

Where can I find Halloween peeps?

We bought ours out of season from a specialty candy shop we found online.  During the fall, look for them anywhere you buy candy.
